Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has provided guidance to the state’s county recorders on how to handle a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court that changed the state’s voter registration law just 10 weeks before the election.

Nearly 100,000 Arizona voters affected by a registration system error involving proof of citizenship will be allowed to vote on a full ballot in the November election, according to a ruling made by the state's Supreme Court.

A flaw in the voter registration system showed nearly 100,000 people had provided proof of citizenship when they had not. A court now will decide if they can vote in state and local races, or only federal.

The plaintiffs challenged a controversial bill which required county recorders to cancel and remove voter registration if a voter is registered in another Arizona county.
