BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Two Baton Rouge schools have been named 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools. The Baton Rouge schools are Mayfair Laboratory School and St. Aloysius School.

Two Baton Rouge elementary schools — one public, one private – have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools, the nation's highest school honor. Mayfair Lab School, which opened in 2013, is a first-time winner, while the other Baton Rouge school, St. Aloysius Catholic School, is a second-time winner, last winning in 2015.

Seven schools in the Pittsburgh area were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education.

Schools in the Conway, McGehee and Pulaski County Special schools districts are among 356 schools in 46 states to be named this week as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools for exemplary academic achievement or for closing achievement gaps among student groups.
