NOPD federal consent decree could be winding down
NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO) — A new development emerged in the NOPD’s federal consent decree on Friday, Sept. 27. The City of New Orleans and the Department of Justice are reportedly asking a federal judge to end it. If approved by the judge, a 2-year “sustainment period” will begin once all of the police department’s problems have been addressed.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The U.S. Department of Justice and the City of New Orleans have asked a federal judge to start the process of freeing the NOPD from court oversight and begin the final stages of the department’s consent decree.
