Containment moved to 92% as of Tuesday morning, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue said in a release. No active suppression or mop-up is occurring at this time, TMFR said. Fire personnel is currently patrolling fire activity and repairing affected areas.

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Red Cross of Northern Nevada is thanking the community for its support during the Davis Fire. Red Cross volunteers staffed evacuation shelters after the fire started on Sept. 7.

The Davis Fire near Reno has burned over 3,000 acres, and fire crews expect flare-ups to last through Sunday due to wind events, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue said. As of Sunday, the fire had burned 3,300 acres, and there was no containment progress.

"Out of the chaos of the Davis Fire comes a nugget of hope," the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District said in a post on Facebook Wednesday.

The male bear was found Wednesday after Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue crews responded to a report of an injured bear off of Granite Road in Washoe Valley.

The Davis Fire in northern Nevada was 76 percent contained, federal officials said Saturday. According to an update posted Saturday on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s X account, the wildfire south of Reno spanned 5,824 acres as of Saturday morning.

Zamora says a couple of days ago, she received a request from the Nevada Division of Forestry asking for a fruit donation to firefighters working the Davis Fire. She was told there was a shortage of fresh fruit. This is her second delivery of the week. Earlier Friday morning, she and other volunteers collected more than 150 pounds of sugar plums.

Local firefighters are back home after fighting the Davis fire in Northern Nevada. "We ran 150 calls total while we were up there and enjoyed our time with the public," Clark County Fire Department Captain Matt Vanbuskirk told 8 News Now.
