Of course, jack-o’-lanterns are the ultimate in fall decorations. An artistically carved jack-o’-lantern can elicit smiles from the drabbest souls. Pumpkins, unlike us, have a certain charm when they become hollowed-out shells.

Families are also invited to take part in Pumpkin-Palooza on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy childrens’ games, face-painting and other activities, alongside a free decoration station for pumpkins purchased at St. Augustine. Drinks, homemade chili, hot-dogs and popcorn are available for purchase.

Sunday is the first day of fall and a local family farm welcomed the public into their pumpkin patch for the season. Sissons’ Pumpkin Patch opened last weekend with a variety of activities for the whole family.
